GS1-128 Shipping Label Help & Custom ERP Integration

Your customer requires the label. Your systems need to produce it.

Need help creating GS1-128 shipping labels, connecting labels to your ERP, or keeping carton and pallet information aligned with your shipment notices?

MindHARBOR helps distributors, manufacturers and suppliers connect business data to customer-required labels, shipping documents and printing workflows.

Whether your team is retyping information, struggling with a customer-specific layout, or correcting label and ASN mismatches, we can review the process and build improvements around your requirements.

Custom Solutions. Not Products.

GS1-128 Labels, UCC-128 Labels & SSCC Barcodes

GS1-128 shipping labels—also commonly searched for under the former name UCC-128—help connect physical shipments to the information your customers use to receive them.

The barcode format is one part of the process. The right data, label layout, shipping-unit identifiers and printing workflow all need to work together.

We can help with:

  • Customer-specific carton, case and pallet label layouts

  • SSCC and SSCC-18 identifier generation and tracking

  • Mapping ERP data to GS1 Application Identifiers

  • Item, GTIN, quantity, lot, batch and date information where required

  • Purchase order, ship-to, vendor and distribution center information

  • Barcode formatting and troubleshooting

  • Validation of required data before label generation

  • Controlled reprints and safeguards against duplicate identifier assignment

We build around your customer’s current specifications and the data available in your systems.

Retailer & Customer-Specific Shipping Labels

Shipping to Walmart, Sam’s Club, Target, The Home Depot, Costco, Amazon, C&S Wholesale Grocers, Chewy, AAFES—the Army & Air Force Exchange Service—or Belk?

If your customer has supplied a routing guide, GS1-128 label specification, SSCC requirement or EDI shipment-notice requirement, we can help review how it fits your ERP and shipping process.

Our team has also developed labeling workflows for suppliers shipping to Fastenal and Bass Pro Shops.

Customer requirements can differ by shipment type, destination and supplier program. We use the specifications provided for your engagement to determine the required fields, layouts, identifiers and system connections.

The goal is to help your team prepare the right output from reliable shipment data, with fewer manual corrections.

Keep Shipping Labels & EDI 856 ASNs Connected

Does the information on your shipping label match the information in your Advance Ship Notice?

An EDI 856 Advance Ship Notice, or ASN, describes the shipment electronically. The physical labels and electronic shipment data need to identify the same shipping units and contents.

MindHARBOR can help connect ERP data, warehouse activity, label generation and your EDI workflow.

Custom integration work can include:

  • Linking SSCC identifiers to carton and pallet contents

  • Mapping shipment information into your ASN process

  • Keeping order, item and quantity data consistent across systems

  • Checking for missing information before printing or transmitting

  • Handling shipment changes, repacking and reprints

  • Reducing duplicate entry between ERP, labeling and EDI tools

Already working with an EDI provider? We can review the connections between that service and your internal systems.

Connect Label Printing to Your ERP & Warehouse Workflow

A label template becomes more useful when your team can generate it at the right point in the process.

We can help pull approved data from your ERP, database, warehouse system or business application and connect it to label generation and printing.

Projects may involve printing during picking, packing or shipping; generating labels in batches; selecting the appropriate customer template; or routing output to a designated printer.

MindHARBOR provides custom development and integration services across environments that include Epicor Prophet 21, Epicor Kinetic, Oracle NetSuite, INxSQL and other business systems. We review the available APIs, data access and printing tools to determine an approach that fits your environment.

If you already use label software, we can assess whether improving its data connections will address the problem.

Custom Business Forms, Labels & Shipping Documents

Need more than GS1-128 labels?

We also help businesses fix, modify and automate the documents their teams use every day, including:

  • Packing lists and shipping documents

  • Pick tickets and warehouse paperwork

  • Order acknowledgements and invoices

  • Item, product, bin and inventory labels

  • Transfer documents and transfer packing lists

  • Certificates of Compliance and related shipment attachments

  • Customer-specific forms and barcode documents

  • PDF output and document distribution workflows

We can review existing Crystal Reports, Adobe forms, SSRS reports and other document tools, then help with missing fields, layout changes, additional data and printing problems.

Custom Doesn’t Mean Starting From Scratch

MindHARBOR brings more than 25 years of custom software, reporting and systems integration experience to each engagement.

Our team draws on prior projects, reusable code and proven approaches, then tailors the solution to your customer requirements, business data and operating process.

Sometimes the work is a change to an existing label. Sometimes it is a connection between systems. Sometimes it is a larger forms and shipping automation project.

We work with you to identify what needs to change and how to make it practical for your team.

Common GS1-128 Label Questions

Are GS1-128 and UCC-128 the same thing?

UCC-128 is the former name commonly used for GS1-128. Older supplier documents and searches may still use UCC-128 or EAN-128 terminology. We can review the specification your customer has provided.

What is an SSCC-18?

A Serial Shipping Container Code, or SSCC, is an 18-digit identifier used to uniquely identify a logistics unit, such as a case or pallet. It can be encoded in a GS1-128 barcode and linked to electronic shipment information.

Can you generate labels from our ERP data?

We can review your ERP, available data access, labeling tools and workflow to determine how label generation can be connected. The approach depends on your environment and customer requirements.

Can you help with labels that do not match our ASN?

Yes. We can review how shipping-unit identifiers, carton and pallet contents, and shipment data move between your ERP, label generation process and EDI provider.

Do we need to replace our existing label software?

We start by reviewing what you have. The work may involve modifying templates, adding validation or connecting existing tools to your business data.

Can you help with a retailer’s specific label requirements?

Yes. Send us the current routing guide or label specification, a sample of your output, and a description of your shipping process. We can assess the custom development or integration work needed.

Show Us Your Label & Customer Requirements

Send us your current label or form, what needs to change, and any customer specifications it must follow.

Tell us which ERP and printing tools you use, where the data comes from, and where your team is doing manual work.

We’ll help identify a practical path forward.
